me, myself and them

There are moments when looking to the outside world for content feels impossible.

A small nagging in my gut says you need to figure out you first. This means: Selfie time!

I play around with faces in the mirror or my body posture and, in so doing, I learn something about my inner experience.

When these paintings are successful, I feel as if I’ve embedded a piece of myself  in the painting and yet I feel more whole.

When I gravitate towards painting other people I am alert to my own sense of loneliness and the need for silent company. Sinking deeply into the shared quiet space between us, I can express my sense of connection between myself and the presence of another.
