I recently bought Pretty Simple Cooking by Sonja and Alex Overhiser, authors of A Couple Cooks. I have made several of the recipes and have an addiction to the Raw Brownie Truffles. I like the way  pistachio green lays on the dark cocoa.

The past two years I have had a small garden. I grow tomatoes and cucumbers on the side of the house and then a larger garden in the backyard. The dirt on the side of the house is well worked. I am picking sweet cherry 100's right now as they are the first things to ripen. I have a collection of them sitting on the counter, it makes me nervous. I dont want to waste them on a boring salad. I actually keep using the tomatoes from the store until I know what to use these for, more than likely though I will watch them turn wrinkly on the counter.

Tony's Chocolonely Framboos Knettersuker

On a trip to Amsterdam I bought a small bar of chocolate out of impulse at the grocery check-out. Just before falling asleep in the hostel room I broke a chunk off for a night cap. I was blown away, this tasted like the holy grail of chocolate. I turned the flashlight of my phone on so I could read the wrapper back and front, the text and packaging made me smile even more as I finished a few more pieces. When I left Amsterdam I had stocked up on the goodness of Tony’s Chocolonely for myself and friends. It was not until a year and a half later did I come across it again in a grocery store in North Dakota. I gift this chocolate to most people for any reason whatsoever. My friend Molly was a recent recipient and she nailed why it is so good-  the magic of this chocolate is that it’s not fancy, it is just good chocolate.

What saddens me is that several flavors I want to try are not available in the fine state of North Dakota. Molly was recently in Amsterdam and brought me back this particular bar that was white chocoalte with raspberry and basically raspberry pop rocks. Again, taste and visuals made me feel childishly happy.

Each package of Tony's has bold colors that displays some connection to the flavors inside. The bar consists of non-congruent geometric shapes which is handy to suit the size of chunk I feel like ingesting.
