Objects, Places, and Spaces
In the spring of 2017 I was lonely, many of the friends I had made had moved away. To keep painting and my spirits up I started putting objects on my old painting chair. These paintings were intended as a joke, thinking that by placing objects on the chair and pairing colours that make me happy might make people return.
Considering the paintings as notes of my life in paint, kitchen paintings were happening consistently, as opposed to other domestic spaces, and a series evolved from this approach. My family has a strong connection to food and painting the kitchen made me feel more connected to them.
